Westfalen relies on renewable liquefied petroleum gas

  • With Westfalengas Bio-LPG, liquefied petroleum gas heating systems can continue to be operated in compliance with the GEG – in the long term and without any restrictions
  • Biogenic alternative with up to 90 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions for a more sustainable future
  • Various liquefied petroleum gas mixing ratios can now be ordered

The Westfalen Group, based in Münster, is now offering bio-LPG as a sustainable alternative to conventional liquefied petroleum gas (propane) under the Westfalengas Bio brand. The offer is initially aimed at existing heating customers with contracts as well as potential new customers. The product can initially be purchased in various mixtures with 15, 30, 50, 65 and 100 percent organic content.

Important contribution to the energy transition

“With the new bio-LPG, we are making an important contribution to the energy transition,” emphasizes Corvin Hermann, Head of Product Management Energy Solutions at the Westfalen Group. “We are expanding our product portfolio, which makes us one of the few companies in Germany that can offer sustainable liquefied petroleum gas variants and, of course, heat pumps in the energy market alongside fossil products, with a truly open mind to technology. This enables us to offer our customers the opportunity to choose the option that best suits their individual needs."

Liquefied petroleum gas heating remains sustainable

For Westfalengas customers who rely on bio-LPG, there are numerous advantages: “Depending on the mixture selected, our bio-LPG can be used to meet all the requirements of the German Building Energy Act (GEG) or the respective state laws,” emphasizes Arnd Kegel, Head of Sales Energy Solutions at the Westfalen Group. “This means that existing liquid gas heating systems can continue to be operated even after all GEG deadlines have expired. We see great potential, especially in areas where electrification of energy is not possible or is simply too expensive. In this way, we are definitely making our gaseous energy source, liquid gas, fit for the future."

Direct enquiries and biogenic heating

The Westfalen Group is now starting 2024 with the first large product batches, and further expansion of the business with the more environmentally friendly bio-LPG is in full swing. “The first available quantities will be allocated on a first come, first served basis,” emphasizes Sales Manager Arnd Kegel. “So it pays to be quick and submit a non-binding request right away.”
