After a top performance last year, the Westfalen Group is continuing its commitment to greater sustainability at a high level.
The Münster-based company has now been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, which recognizes the top five percent. In the specific ranking, Westfalen is even among the top three percent of all companies assessed last year. EcoVadis takes into account a total of 21 criteria in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
"Despite increased assessment requirements from EcoVadis, the award once again confirms that we are on the right track. Our goal is clear: we want to gradually move away from fossil-based businesses and continuously invest in environmentally friendly products and business models," says Dr. Thomas Perkmann, CEO of the Westfalen Group, commenting on the company's course.
As one of the world's largest providers of sustainability assessments for suppliers, EcoVadis is trusted by many companies that value sustainability in their cooperation: "We are all the more pleased that we can once again send a clear signal to our customers about our progress in terms of sustainability through the renewed confirmation from EcoVadis," explains Christin Wessels, Head of Sustainability at Westfalen.
Commitment bears fruit
Since 2019, Westfalen has been able to reduce its own CO2e emissions by 33% and is increasingly focusing on more climate-friendly solutions. Visible successes of this consistent action can already be seen in various business areas. For example, Westfalen now only offers the refrigerant Pronat R-744 in the certified climate-neutral version and the line is also clear in the area of mobility and energy, as Perkmann emphasizes: "We now only sell organic LNG at our LNG filling stations. We are continuing to expand our charging network and are equipping our charging stations with green electricity, and our car washes are also climate-neutral. In terms of energy supply, we are focusing on electricity-based heat and supporting the switch to heat pumps. On the other hand, we offer customers organic LPG that is certified to the highest European standard."
