Münster. After 16 years at the Westfalen Group, long-standing CSO Reiner Ropohl (63) has entered his well-earned retirement. At a ceremony to mark the event, Wolfgang and Renate Fritsch-Albert, fellow board members and numerous of other attendees paid tribute to the “Rhinelander among the ranks of the Westfalen family”. “You established a modern, forward-looking service station business, comprising shop, car wash, food offerings and a mix of fuels,” emphasised Wolfgang FritschAlbert in his laudation. “And, as a key comrade-in-arms of the entrepreneurial family, you laid the groundwork for and executed the modernisation of the Westfalen Group,” said the Chairman of the Supervisory Board in praise of Ropohl’s further achievements.
Before joining Westfalen, Ropohl had already held management roles at the competitor Aral for 20 years. During this time, he rose to the rank of Sales Director Germany and gained invaluable professional experience. In July 2002, he joined the Management Committee of the Westfalen Group, with initial responsibility for the Service Stations and Purchasing divisions. In 2012, he was appointed as CSO. Upon commencing this role, his area of responsibility covered the Service Stations, Energy Supply, Purchasing and Public Relations divisions. This was later expanded to include Gases Europe and Marketing. His contract expired according to schedule in 2018. In retirement, the native of Cologne is planning to spend more time with his family. “But I’ll be keeping an eye on Westfalen service stations, especially in my home area,” Ropohl promised with a smile.
